Become an active member of a group that fights for democracy. Nationally this includes Indivisible, National Action Network, ACLU, #50501, Common Cause, and many more. Your local area likely has its own mutual aid groups or action networks.
Get a paid subscription to an independent media outlet. See a list of independent media. Independent media is vital to ensuring free speech, because many major media outlets belong to billionaires or corporations that are collaborating with the Trump administration and censoring their journalists.
Publicly visible signs help build solidarity and normalize resistance to authoritarianism. Post an All Are Welcome Here, NO ICE, or other pro-democracy sign in the window or yard of your small business, home, or workplace. Simply marking rooms in a business as Employees Only also helps protect employees from ICE.
Find an upcoming resistance event in your local area and promise to attend. You can browse events on Mobilize or check the event calendar for your favorite pro-democracy group.
Choose a pro-democracy group or cause and make a donation to support their efforts. This can be a partner organization in the No Kings protests or a local mutual aid fund that helps people last through a cruel administration.
Stop making purchases from a company that has given money to Trump, capitulated to Trump’s demands, or is collaborating with ICE. Such companies include Google, Amazon, Target, Home Depot, Spotify, Paramount, and more. Consider joining a mass boycott to increase your impact.
Print out some cards or flyers with pro-democracy information. Then distribute the cards at a public place or large gathering. Card Campaign for Democracy has lots of cards you can print and tips for distributing them.
Sign up to volunteer with a pro-democracy or mutual aid group for a specific event, a specific project, or on an ongoing basis. Many groups need volunteers to help with basic administrative tasks, putting on large events, or offer specialized skills.
Call your state and federal senators and representatives, and leave a message in support of protecting democracy, resisting the Trump administration, protecting people from ICE, or a related cause. The platform 5 Calls (which can also be downloaded as an app on your phone) makes this process easy.
